Officials from the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team Black and cooperators held a meeting at 7 p.m, at the Albany County Fairgrounds. Wednesday to brief Albany County residents on the Badger Creek Fire.

The Badger Creek Fire has burned 2,300 acres after it made a large, wind-driven run Monday in southern Albany County on the Medicine Bow National Forest and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has authorized the use of federal funds to help with firefighting costs for the fire.

Hot, dry, and windy conditions persisted throughout the afternoon, causing substantial growth to the now 2,300-acre fire that moved both to the north and east.

Full evacuations are in place for Wold, Mountain Home and Wycolo according to Aimee Binning, Albany County Emergency Management coordinator.

Personnel from the Albany County Emergency Management and Assessor’s office, in conjunction with the National Weather Service in Cheyenne and Farm Service Agency have assessed the area in Albany County Impacted by Wednesday’s tornado.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Tornado Warning for east central Albany County until 6:30 p.m.

An Albany County Sheriff’s deputy and a trooper from the Wyoming Highway Patrol were involved in a shooting while on duty Saturday, May 26th that injured a suspect.

The news release did not identify the law enforcement agencies working on the case, where the interdiction occurred, or any suspects.
