Over 200 kindergarten through 8th graders will be in Casper for The Wyoming State Spelling Bee this Saturday. The spelling bee at the Best Western Ramkota acts as a preliminary for the Scripps National Bee in June.

"The kids throughout the state of Wyoming started months ago preparing for different events within their schools. Some of them have done county bees."

Event Organizer, Melinda Clair, says the schedule includes a written test Saturday morning, that, according to Clair, could eliminate most contestants.

Finalist then move on to an oral bee in the afternoon.

The state champion wins an expenses-paid trip to the 2012 Scripps National Spelling bee in Washington D.C., in June.
