Stage III Theatre And The Casper Planetarium With A Unique Collaboration [AUDIO]

For the eighth year Stage III theatre and The Casper Planetarium have come together for a presentation of "theatre of the mind." We Visited with Pat Greiner about the production this morning.

This year marks the 8th annual Theatre of the Mind collaboration between Stage III and the Casper Planetarium. Each year, the two groups present a science fiction readers theatre. Stage III actors provide voices and live sound effects in the tradition of old-time radio theatre, and the experience is enhanced with digital visual effects on the dome, designed by the Planetarium’s interns and staff. This year’s show is “Mutiny on the Starship Bounty,” a sci-fi adaptation of the classic seafaring story, written by Stage III member Ron Richard and directed by Pat Greiner. The cast features Michael Lyon as Captain Bligh and Karen Huckfeldt as Commander Christian, plus six actors who each take on multiple roles: Vickie Cawthra, Jamison Lemke, Pat Pulitzer, Ron Richard, Dennis Rollins, and Dob Wallace. Leanna Crockett, Brenda Evans, and Corryne Drake create the sound effects. Performances are February 17, 18 and 19 at 7:30 pm and Feb. 20 at 2 pm at the Casper Planetarium, 904 North Poplar. The show lasts about an hour and is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $6, available at the door or in advance by calling the Planetarium at 577-0310.
