A rather active weather pattern is setting up for the next couple of days.  Holiday travelers will have some snow and wind to contend with today and Tuesday.  The state will see some some showers first in the west today, with then some snow spreading south and east Tuesday into Christmas Eve.

Moisture moving in along a front will bring more snow to northwest and west central Wyoming later today.  A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for northwest Wyoming from 5 PM today through 9 AM Tuesday.

Also today further east and south the wind will start to pick up.  A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Cody foothills including the towns of Cody and Meeteetse this afternoon through early Tuesday morning.  Portions of the southeast are also under a High Wind Warning late this afternoon through early Tuesday morning as well.  West to southwest winds in the warning areas will gust to 65 mph at times.  This wind, however, will bring in somewhat warmer temperatures.  Daytime highs will reach into the 30s to near 40 today, with 20s for the higher elevations.

On Tuesday the snow showers in the west will push east and southeast.  Scattered snow showers are expected in central and eastern Wyoming from time to time Tuesday through Christmas Eve.  Travelers please use caution and

be aware of slick roads in some areas and reduced traffic speed.

The weather looks to clear out just in time for Christmas Day Wednesday.  At this time partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies are expected statewide for the holiday.
