Some of the roads closed last week in eastern Wyoming have reopened, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

But accessing areas east and north of Lusk will require some planning.

U.S. Highway 85 is now open from Lusk south to Lingle, but it remains closed north of Lusk to the junction of Wyoming Highway 270.

U.S. Highway 18/20 remains closed from Orin Junction at Interstate 25 east to Manville.

However, U.S. Highway 18/20 from Manville east to U.S. Highway 85 in Lusk is now open.

U.S. Highway 20 is now open from Lusk east to Nebraska.

Wyoming Highway 270 is open north from Guernsey through Manville and Lance Creek, and from Lance Creek east to the 270 intersection with U.S. Highway 85 north of Lusk.

For those traveling north to the Newcastle and the Black Hills area, WYDOT recommends these routes:

  • From I-25: Take U.S. Highway 26 at Dwyer Junction east through Guernsey. Take Wyoming Highway 270 north through Manville and Lance Creek, then east from Lance Creek to U.S. Highway 85. The junction of Wyoming Highway 270 and U.S. Highway 85 is about 21 miles north of Lusk.
  • From U.S. Highway 85 south of Lusk: Take U.S. Highway 85 north to its junction with U.S. Highway 18/20 at Lusk. Turn west on U.S. Highway 85 to Manville. From Manville, take Wyoming Highway 270 north.
