Some Residents Want Truck Ban On Teton Pass

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Some Teton County residents want semitrailers banned from using Teton Pass until transportation officials can ensure the safety of the steep mountain pass in northwest Wyoming.

In addition, residents suggested stiffer fines for overweight trucks, a new runaway truck ramp closer to Wilson and a manned weigh station on the west side of the pass to help prevent accidents.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation is taking public comment about how Highways 22 and 390 function and what residents want to see in the corridor in coming years.

The Associated Press reports the study is supposed to map out projects on the heavily trafficked roads between Jackson, Grand Teton National Park and the Idaho border.
