Although big game hunting season is not yet open, enthusiasts will still be able to hunt come September 1st. The 1st will mark the beginning of blue and ruffled grouse and will run through November 30th. Season for mourning doves will also begin on the 1st. To hunt mourning doves one must obtain a federal Harvest Information Program permit and have it in their possession during a hunt. For those interested in small game, that season opens on the 1st as well and includes animals such as rabbits and squirrels. Small game hunting season will conclude at the end of April.
