CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming sheriff says investigating allegations of mistreatment of pigs at a commercial farm is a top priority.

Platte County Sheriff Steve Keigley says Wednesday that his agency is working with the Wyoming Livestock Board to investigate a complaint from the Humane Society of the United States.

The Humane Society released Tuesday what it said is an undercover video, shot in April, showing workers abusing pigs at Wyoming Premium Farms in Wheatland. The society also claims animals are kept in inhumane conditions.

Keigley says the investigation will be done as quickly as possible. The Platte County Attorney's Office will decide whether any charges are justified.

Doug DeRouchey, general manager of Wyoming Premium Farms, stated Tuesday that the farm's owners and managers were investigating and would take any necessary corrective action.
