A license revocation hearing against operators of an east Casper motel has been cancelled by Casper-Natrona County Health Department officials.

Public health director Robert Harrington signed a settlement with operators of the First Interstate Motel on Monday morning. Harrington says health officials found several chronic sanitation and safety violations during prior inspections of the property.

“The gist of it is that they agree to follow the rules and regulations and, beyond that, to follow a cleaning and maintenance schedule,” Harrington said.

Harrington says the motel operator will face license revocation again if cleaning, sanitation and safety demands of the health department aren’t met.

“This is the third stipulated agreement that we’ve reached with these operators,” Harrington said. “We had two other very similar agreements to this in 2009, both of which they breached.”

Harrington says, as of May 8, several improvements to the property have been made.

The hearing had been scheduled to take place during Natrona County Board of Health meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday.
