Passengers at the Casper-Natrona County International Airport may encounter shorter airport security checkpoint waits in the future.

Airport officials say a second passenger screening lane is being installed at the airport and should be operational within the next two weeks.

Airport manager Glenn Januska says the new setup will be used during peak times.

“We’ll still have one metal detector, but when they take their change out of their pockets and keys, and put their checked luggage through the X-ray machine, there’s actually two lines and two X-ray machines to do that,” Januska said. “That’s usually what slows down the process.

The airport has seen a nearly 26 percent year-to-date passenger increase.
