The search is on for a missing Wisconsin couple that was last seen leaving Yellowstone National Park last week.

Officials say a search and rescue unit is combing the area for Mark and Kristine Wathke of the Chippewa County city of Cornell.

The Wathkes left the northeast entrance of Yellowstone at 4 p.m. on Tuesday October 29 and have not been seen since.

Here is a description of the couple:

  • Mark Wathke is 5'10" and weighs 190 pounds.  He has brown hair, green eyes, wears glasses and has a goatee.
  • Kristine Wathke is 5'7" and weighs 145 pounds.  She has wavy blonde hair and hazel eyes.

Officials say the couple had hotel reservations in Miles City, Montana Tuesday night, but were listed as a "no show."

Family members last heard from the couple on the 29th, when the Wathkes indicated they would be home on October 30.

The couple was driving a silver 2012 Kia Forte with Wisconsin license plate 545VHH.
