The Natrona County School District is conducting an investigation into key personnel at Natrona County High School, but its attorney declined to offer specifics on Thursday.

"There is a personnel investigation, ongoing, that involves Natrona County High School," said the district's general counsel Kathleen Dixon.

Questions to high school Principal Dean Kelly have been referred to acting administrator Kelly Hornby, who did not immediately return a phone call.

Kelly has been the school's principal since 2007, but has at least temporarily been replaced.

But, Dixon would not comment about who is under investigation.

"Because this is a personnel matter, we have to abide by the state rules and regulation and statutes pertaining to confidentiality," she said. "I will tell you it is a personnel investigation, and beyond that I cannot comment."

The investigation began Tuesday, and there will be no rush to complete it,  Dixon said.

"Our interest is in trying to do a through job of the investigation and to make that turnaround time as expeditious as possible, but there is no set deadline at this time," she said.
