Santorum: Romney Has Failed To ‘Close The Deal’

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum says Mitt Romney has failed to "close the deal" with voters and suggests the GOP nomination might be decided at this year's Republican National Convention.

Romney leads in the delegate count heading into this week's Super Tuesday primaries, but Santorum says Romney isn't winning convincingly despite a huge financial advantage. Santorum spoke to The Associated Press after a rally in Oklahoma, where a crowd of 1,300 turned out to hear the former Pennsylvania senator Sunday night.

Santorum wouldn't call for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to leave the race if he fails to win significant support soon. He says that if all four candidates, including Texas congressman Ron Paul, stick it out, the decision on a nominee could be left to convention delegates this summer.
