An Evansville man is now admitting he killed a man who was trying to disarm him last summer at Taylor's Sports Bar.

Twenty-one-year-old Samuel Renner has pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, seven counts of aggravated assault and battery and two counts of possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent.

Investigators say in late July, Renner was drinking at the Evansville bar and got into a fight with another patron as he was leaving.

Prosecutors said Renner went home, got two guns and returned to the bar, where he fatally shot 41-year-old Todd Callies.

Callies and his friends were walking out of the bar, when they saw Renner pointing a gun at a number of other people in the parking lot.

Prosecutors say the group then attempted to disarm Renner and during the scuffle, three shots were fired.

Two of those shots struck Callies in his chest.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors will seek a sentence of no more than 60-years-to-life in prison.

Renner is being held on $1,000,000 bond and will be sentenced at a later date.
