Andrew Kneeland, age 17, of Rock Springs, Wyo., is the winning artist of the 2015-2016 Federal Junior Duck Stamp contest. His painting of a pair of wood ducks was chosen by a panel of judges as the design for the new stamp. Kneeland’s painting, along with other winners from the Wyoming State Junior Duck Stamp Contest, are on display at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department Cheyenne Headquarters until Feb. 24.

The acrylic entry, which won the Wyoming State Junior Duck Stamp Contest, was judged the winner among best-of-show entries from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This year, a total of more than 24,000 entries were submitted to the 53 state Junior Duck Stamp contests. Proceeds from sales of the $5 Junior Duck Stamp support environmental education.

Wyoming Game and Fish Department Director Scott Talbott said,

“It just tremendous to have a Wyoming student win this national contest and to have such talent in wildlife art. All of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department applauds Andrew,”

The Wyoming Junior Duck Stamp Program is sponsored by the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program, Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge and Ducks Unlimited.
