Hannah M. Mayfield, 33, was driving was driving a compact car eastbound on I-80 about three miles east of Rock Springs, according to the news release from Patrol Sgt. David Wagener

Mayfield  failed to properly negotiate a right-hand curve and drifted off the highway to the north, then overcorrected the car back to the highway, crossing both lanes.

During the overcorrection, the car collided with a tractor trailer traveling eastbound in the right lane of I-80.

The car glanced off trailer, causing the car to overcorrect to the left and enter the median. The car then tripped and rolled several times.

Mayfield was ejected from the car during the crash because she was not wearing her seat belt. She died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating alcohol use as a contributing factor in the crash.

This marked the 136th highway fatality in Wyoming in 2015. There were 135 fatalities during this same time period in 2014.
