Robert Broyles Sentenced To Prison For Probation Violation In Weapons Possession Case

A man who was given probation in Wyoming for threatening to kill another person in Casper, is heading to prison after committing crimes in another state.

Robert Broyles was sentenced to three-five years in prison, after he admitted to violating the terms of his probation.

He was recently convicted of several unrelated charges in Virginia, and when Wyoming prosecutors found out about it, they filed a motion to revoke his probation and he was transferred back to the Cowboy State.

When Broyles moved to Virginia after he was initially sentenced, he had to continue his probation in that state.

In the original case, he entered an Alford plea to one charge of possession of a deadly weapon with intent to threaten the life of another.

Investigators with the Casper Police Department say on the Fourth of July in 2012, Broyles was drinking at Morad Park with two other people.

Investigators say jealousy sparked a fight, and Broyles stabbed the victim in the head.

The victim was able to escape and call police, and ended up going to the hospital for his injuries.

When police arrived on scene, they saw Broyles coming out of the bushes with a knife and a hatchet, saying he was going to kill someone.

An Alford plea is not an admission of guilt, but acknowledges that prosecutors have enough evidence and/or testimony to get a guilty conviction from a jury, had the case gone to trial.
