Road Impact Forecast for Monday, March 14 [VIDEO]

A large trough of low pressure and strong cold front will continue to push across the state of Wyoming today and will then remained settled over the region through Friday.  Within this large weather system, there will be faster-moving weather weather disturbances that slide across the state.  For today, expect partly to mostly cloudy skies, gusty to windy conditions, and possible rain/snow showers statewide.  Temperatures will be dropping sharply in western and central Wyoming, while unseasonably mild temperatures continue elsewhere.  With the exception of the mountains and mountain passes, roads will stay mainly wet today.  Any roads that are still wet after sunset will then freeze and form black ice.  Visibility could also be reduced at times today due to blowing snow, especially along I-80.  Expect more clouds than sun, significantly colder temperatures, and daily chances for snow Tuesday through Friday.  Gusty to strong winds will also remain in the forecast.  The main travel concern during this time will be the potential for redeveloping black ice on roadways, especially during the overnight and early morning hours.
