A rezoning change for an area off of the North Platte, north of West 1st Street in downtown Casper was tabled at Tuesday's city council meeting.

Council will wait for a final plat of  the upscale housing project dubbed 'Riverwalk Addition'. It was the third reading of a zoning change required for the proposed 18-unit multi-story town home project that developers would like to place between the river and businesses off of north Nichols. Councilman, Paul Bertoglio, questioned whether housing can be placed on the property effectively.

"If you go look at it, it's a very tight area. Its gets tighter as you get close to 1st street. We are bending some of our own rules in making private streets, dead end streets."

Bertoglio refers to the need for a private access street included in the preliminary plat.

The proposal for the 2.5 acre site is in line with council's vision for more urban housing, but the 4 to 3 vote means no action until developers present a final plat design.
