Republicans Want to Extend Unemployment Benefits

WASHINGTON (AP) — Seven House Republicans have written Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor that steps are needed "to restore unemployment benefits to struggling Americans."

The letter was sent today before the Senate voted to renew jobless benefits cut off for the long-term unemployed in late December. Fifty-one Senate Democrats, two independents and six Republicans voted for approval of the benefits.
