POWELL, Wyo. (AP) — The East Yellowstone Chapter of Trout Unlimited has rescued a record number of stranded trout from irrigation canals in northern Wyoming this fall.

Nearly 5,200 trout were caught recently by volunteers, placed temporarily in a tank and then released in the Shoshone River.

Bob Capron of East Yellowstone Trout Unlimited tells the Powell Tribune (http://bit.ly/uuQD2K) that the organization's previous high trout rescue catch total was just over 4,000.
