A Natrona County man and former McDonald's assistant manager, will avoid jail time, after admitting that he pocketed money from the restaurant in a fraudulent gift card scheme.

Thirty-two year old Randy Hatcher was given first time offender status, along with one-to-five years of probation, after pleading guilty to one count of grand theft.

Prosecutors say shortly after the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend in 2013, McDonald’s corporate offices were alerted to several irregular gift card transactions, at the East Casper chain, where Hatcher logged falsified gift cards into the company's computer system and then took cash from the register.

When interviewed, Hatcher admitted to investigators to what he did, and said he was having financial difficulties.

Hatcher has been ordered to pay $1,700 in restitution.

If he completes he probation term, the court will clear his criminal record of the charge.
