Casper City Council will hold a second hearing of its proposed amendment to city law governing the open carry of weapons into city meetings next month.

Listen here,

A second vote on the measure is scheduled for December 6th. The proposed ordinance change, would ban all dangerous weapons from any meeting of the city when a quorum is present. The move requires three public hearings and three council votes before becoming law. The proposed ordinance passed on first reading with a 6-3 vote last week.

State law already prohibits people from carrying concealed firearms into city meetings, but it doesn't address weapons carried openly.

A copy of the proposed ordinance is available at the Casper City Website in the work session agenda packet from October 27th. You can also read letters submitted to the council. Those are included in the work session packet from this past Monday November 7th.

K2 Radio and Townsquaremedia will run excerpts from the first city council public hearing this Sunday on Report to Wyoming.
