Areas of southwest Casper will be affected by a planned power outage overnight this Saturday.

Rocky Mountain Power Spokesman, Jeff Hymas says it will affect about 6600 customers and is part of maintenance at the Red Butte substation.

"And in general the area affected is Paradise Valley. West and North of there up to Zero road and then west of Paradise Valley out to Seven Mile Road."

Hymas says the outage will begin at 10 p.m. Saturday, September 15th, and continue through to 7 a.m. Sunday.

He says customers may want to prepare in advance by assembling a kit that includes a flashlight, battery operated clock and radio, and extra batteries. Hymas says affected customers should have received a notification of the outage by mail.

For questions, customers may call anytime, toll free at 1-888-221-7070.

The folks at Rocky Mountain Power say it’s always a good idea to have a preparedness kit that includes the following items for use in any type of emergency:

· A flashlight

· Non-perishable foods

· A manual can opener

· Bottled water

· Blankets

· Battery operated radio and clock

· Extra batteries

If someone in your home requires life support equipment, be sure to have a back-up system and a plan of action in preparation for this power outage and in general.
