The Wyoming Highway Patrol was called early Sunday morning to assist the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office with a possible suicidal subject on Wyoming State Highway 59 approximately 10 miles north of Gillette, Wyoming.

Around 2:00 a.m. on May 1st, a Wyoming State Trooper and a Campbell County Deputy arrived on scene and were immediately fired upon. The Trooper’s patrol car was hit with the Trooper returning fire.

The suspect quickly surrendered with no one injured. The suspect was taken into custody by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation continues by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
