UPDATE: Casper Police have lifted the request to limit driving around Casper. The plowing crews have made headway and the winds have died down. They do warn though that many side streets that generally are not plowed will still be risky driving.

And Wyoming Boulevard/Outer loop is open again, but WyDot warns everyone to drive with caution as it is still icy in spots.

=================================================================

The Casper Police Department has asked that drivers forego any unnecessary travel in  the city limits for the time being.

Detective John Hatcher says the winds are driving snow into drifts that plowing crews cannot keep up with, and many drivers are getting stuck, particularly on side streets that haven't been plowed.

Det. Hatcher asks that unless the trip is essential, everyone stay where they are for the next few hours.

UPDATE: Casper Police Department is closing Wyoming Boulevard immediately.  The road will be closed until further notice from 21st St to CY Avenue.  Motorists are advised to stay off Wyoming Boulevard.  Residents in the Wolf Creek neighborhood are advised to use Wolf Creek Road to access their neighborhood.  Residents South of Wyoming Boulevard are advised to use city street to access their neighborhoods.
