POWELL, Wyo. (AP) — The city of Powell, WY has been ordered to turn over internal police reports on an officer who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman while on duty.

The woman's attorney was only able to obtain the confidential reports after getting permission from the former officer himself and obtaining last week's court order.

The woman is suing the city and the police department for $250,000 in damages for the September 2011 incident, in which she says former officer Kirk Chapman subjected her to unwanted touching and rubbing.

The internal investigation was entirely separate from the one conducted by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, which led to the sexual assault charge.

Chapman is currently serving time in Wisconsin for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 2003.
