A man who told police he was trying to get his friend a job was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly finding his way into the offices of the Casper Star-Tribune.

Adam McClure, 21, was booked on charges of criminal entry and possession of a controlled substance.

Court documents say an employee called police at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday after watching McClure crawl into the building through the loading docks and then finding him passed out in the break room.

An officer arrived to find McClure sitting in a chair, asleep. The officer could smell alcohol on McClure, according to the affidavit.

McClure reportedly had food hanging out of his mouth. He was holding a partially-eaten pizza in his left hand and an opened Dannon yogurt in his right hand.

Charging papers say McClure did not respond when the officer spoke to him. So, the officer grabbed McClure's left arm and shook him.

McClure reportedly woke up saying "no, no stop," then threw the food out of his hands and pushed the officer's hand away.

Then the officer noticed an unloaded Smith and Wesson pistol in a holster on McClure's belt. The officer put McClure against the wall, handcuffed him and walked him outside to a patrol car, where he searched McClure.

According to the affidavit, the officer found a bag of marijuana in McClure's left jeans pocket.

A witness later told police that he saw McClure walk up to the newspaper loading door and crawl inside the building at about 8:30 a.m.

The witness reportedly followed McClure and asked him what he was doing. He said he was waiting for the manager of the paper mill, according to the witness' statement. At that point, the witness called his district manager.

McClure allegedly made his way back into the paper mill area and was found sleeping in an employee locker room area.

A second witness told police he was unsure how McClure got into the locker room, as a key fob was required to access the paper mill room.

In the affidavit, the officer notes that fingerprints and shoe prints indicate that McClure jumped from a balcony overlooking the paper mill room, landed on a piece of machinery, jumped to another piece of machinery and jumped down to the floor.

McClure allegedly told police that he had been drinking and had smoked marijuana in Mills the night before. McClure said one of his friends needed a job, so McClure went to get a job application for that person.

Court documents say McClure walked from Mills to the Star-Tribune offices to speak with a person about getting his friend a job. McClure reportedly said he worked for the paper when he was 18 years old.

McClure reportedly did not speak with anyone at the paper before walking over.

McClure allegedly said that upon his arrival, he wasn't able to use the entrance door. Instead, he reportedly lifted the door to the newspaper loading shoot and crawled inside the building.

According to his statement to police, McClure remembered speaking with one employee and getting pizza out of the break room refrigerator.

When asked about how he got into the paper mill room, McClure allegedly said, "I might or might not have. I don't really want to say." McClure reportedly had a hard time remembering the events due to his intoxicated state.

An employee told police that nothing seemed to be missing or out of place.

Officers arrested McClure and took him to the Natrona County Detention Center. He was banned for life from the Casper Star-Tribune, according to court documents.
