Poco Announced As Sunday Headliner For 2016 Beartrap Summer Festival

Beartrap Summer Festival is excited to announce Sunday’s headliner, the Southern California country rock band Poco!

Poco was formed in 1968, rising from the ashes of 60’s rock sensation Buffalo Springfield- and has featured the likes of Jim Messina, Timothy B. Schmit, Paul Cotton and Rusty Young, all who’ve contributed to Poco’s ever-changing sound. Because of its fluid nature, Poco has been churning out great music for nearly 50 years.

One of the first bands to pioneer country rock music, Poco’s harmonies and instruments have paved the way for other supergroups within the country and pop genres. They released the “Legend” Album in 1978, and Crazy Love, written and sung by Young, became Poco’s biggest hit, reaching #1 on the Billboard charts. Paul Cotton’s Heart of the Night was another top hit, and these 2 songs were largely responsible for propelling the Legend album’s status to Platinum.

On January 9th, 2015, with nearly 30 albums and music on scores of compilations, Poco was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, and though they’re not touring full time, they’ve chosen the Beartrap Music Festival as one of their exclusive venues this summer.

Saturday’s lineup includes three Wyoming-based bands who are getting national attention.  JShogren Shanghai’d, The Libby Creek Original and Screen Door Porch. Joining them are the Caribou Mountain Collective, Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand, and the day wraps up with Yonder Mountain String Band, a group that redefines bluegrass by pushing the envelope into territory usually staked out by rock and improv.

Sunday’s music includes SalsaGrass, The Scratchdog Stringband, The Two Tracks, The American Aquarium and The Honeycutters. The headliner for Sunday’s big finish is Country Rock Pioneer Band Poco.

Beartrap offers more to do than listen to great music. There’s a family area with loads of activities for kids, a marketplace of vendors showcasing handcrafted items, a fresh-air food court featuring local favorites including products from Budweiser, a VIP area, and tent camping in the meadow-where music fans and musicians can gather to jam out after the sun goes down- continuing the festivities long into the evening.
