A pipeline worker was killed Saturday morning in Sweetwater County after being crushed by a large section of pipe. Elvin Loggins, 62, of Bronson, Texas, was transported by ambulance to Rock Springs Memorial Hospital, were he was declared dead at around 11 am, about an hour after the workplace accident.

Natural gas pipeline project:

"There's a large number of workers engaged in that project out west of town. Most of them are working for Snelson."

Sweetwater County Sheriff's Detective Dick Blust says that cause of death has already confirmed that Loggins died of injuries from the accident.

Autopsy verifies workplace fatality:

"An autopsy was performed at Memorial Hospital in Rock Springs on December 6th. Cause of death was determined to be extensive chest and abdominal injuries. No evidence of foul play was evident. The Sheriff's Office investigation into Mr. Loggins' death is continuing."

Blust says that details like the size of the pipe section or the process Loggins was involved in when he died will be details uncovered during the still ongoing investigation.
