The city of Casper introduces the first phase of a yard waste ban today.

It will be a gradual introduction with the Thursday waste collection route the first to be effected, followed by one additional route each year.

Solid Waste Division Manager, Cindy Langston says they want to work with residents to ease the transition.

"We're not coming out in a punitive manner.  This year it will all be in an educational approach. So as long as people are willing to work with us, will work with them to find a solution to their yard waste disposal."

Thursday route residents should have received information in the mail outlining the program. Langston says they highly recommend mulching your grass clippings back into your soil as the easiest and most ecological solution. Branches can still be tied for pickup on the extra trash day.
