The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will hold an open house this weekend at the Speas Fish Hatchery near Casper.

“There’s going to be regional and statewide fisheries biologists here to answer questions and show off a lot of the gear that the general public sees when they’re out and about, and there’s going to be lots of activities for the kids,” Hatchery superintendent Lars Alsager said on Thursday.

Alsager also said an aim of the open house is to educate area residents about the local and statewide importance of the hatchery.

“We are involved in pretty much all of the statewide stocking,” Alsager said. “But this event isn’t just about the fish hatchery – it’s about everything that the Casper region offers to the state and the local community.”

The open house will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The hatchery is located 8200 Speas Road.
