A single vehicle rollover crash on July 24th resulted in the death of 25 year old Denver, Colorado resident Joseph M. Rodriguez. The crash happened at 9:45 a.m. on Wyoming State Highway 28 approximately 45 miles southwest of Lander, Wyoming.

Rodriguez was driving a mid-sized SUV east on WY 28 when it drifted south off the road. Rodriguez overcorrected causing it to spin and cross both lanes of WY 28 before it tripped and rolled.

Four people in the vehicle, including Rodriguez, were not wearing seat belts resulting in their being thrown from the vehicle during the crash. A five year old child was seated properly in a child restraint and was not ejected.

Mr. Rodriguez was initially taken by helicopter to SageWest Medical Center in Lander where he died. Passenger Tori Hoggan, a 17 year old resident of Texas, was taken to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper and hospitalized. Passenger Adrian Nava, age 15, was initially taken to SageWest before being flown to the Children's Hospital of Salt Lake City, Utah. Samantha Rodriguez, 18 years of age from Denver, was taken to SageWest where she was treated and released. The five year old child from Denver, Kyla Rodriguez, was taken to SageWest but her status is unknown.

Inattentive driving is being investigated as the contributing factor in this crash. WY 28 was closed for almost one hour for the landing and departures of the air ambulances.
