A two vehicle crash south of Laramie on US 287 resulted in the death of a Laramie, Wyoming resident this morning. The crash happened at 6:25 a.m. Friday morning on US 287 approximately 18 miles south of Laramie.

A tractor-trailer combination unit driven by 58 year old Alexander Wade of Fort Collins, Colorado was northbound and slowing to turn right into a construction area parking lot. A small compact car driven by 44 year old John M. Scandrett of Laramie, Wyoming was travelling north approaching the slowing combination unit. The car rear ended the trailer of the 18-wheeler at highway speed.

Mr. Scandrett was wearing his seat belt, but died in the crash. Mr. Wade was wearing his seat belt and was uninjured. Contributing factors are still being investigated. Mr. Scandrett marked the 135th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2014.
