CONIFER, Colo. (AP) — Investigators are trying to determine what killed a person whose body was found amid a Colorado wildfire that destroyed an estimated 15 to 25 structures in the mountains southwest of Denver. At least five of those are homes.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said at an early morning briefing Tuesday that the victim was not a firefighter or emergency responder.

The fire southwest of Denver now covers more than 3,000 acres and firefighters are hoping to get air tankers Tuesday to fight the fire. High winds prevented an air attack on the fire on Monday.
