One person is dead after a vehicle hit a pedestrian on Interstate 80 in southern Wyoming early Wednesday.

Uinta County Fire and Ambulance says on its Facebook page that Evanston first responders were called just before 9 a.m. to the collision, which was reported near mile marker 3.

One person was taken to Evanston Regional Hospital, where they died of their injuries.

A second ambulance was called to the scene to check on another person involved, but that person was not taken to the hospital.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, which closed the eastbound lanes for an unspecified period of time.
