A Natrona County fire fighter suffered a massive stroke while on duty Thursday afternoon.

The report from the Natrona County Fire District indicates they had responded to a grass fire off of Salt Creek Highway around 3 p.m. Thursday.  County Firefighter Adam Longo was driving the squad truck back to the station when the stroke came on. Fortunately, his fellow crew members were able to gain control of the vehicle. The report says they offered first aide and called an ambulance.

Longo underwent surgery at Wyoming Medical Center late that afternoon and, according to the report, he is listed in critical, but stable condition.

The Natrona County Fire District asks that the public keep Firefighter Adam Longo and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
