CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Nobody was hurt in a fire at a power plant near Wheatland.

Platte County officials say sheriff's dispatchers got a report around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday of people trapped in a roof collapse at the Laramie River Station.

The initial report of people trapped turned out to be untrue and the fire was extinguished within a few hours.

Bismarck, N.D.-based Basin Electric Power Cooperative is the operating agent of the Laramie River Station, a 1,700-megawatt, coal-fired power plant. Five other utilities are partners.

Basin Electric spokesman Daryl Hill says the fire broke out in a surge bin, a container that collects coal from conveyor belts. Hill says all employees are accounted for.

He says the cause of the fire is being investigated.
