No Arrests Yet Following Casper Shooting

No arrests yet following the incident Saturday night involving gunfire and a person being struck with a vehicle. The altercation left one man in the hospital.

“According to the Casper Star Tribune, acting Police Chief, Chris Walsh, says officials believe the incident was the result of an argument between two groups of people at the Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo. Walsh says the parties left the fairgrounds and met again at the Loaf ‘N Jug near the intersection of Poplar and Collins streets, where another argument ensued.

A man involved asked someone at the Loaf and Jug to call authorities. He then got in a vehicle and began following another man who had walked away.

Police say somewhere near the 1100 block of Boxelder Street, the man on foot fired a handgun at the vehicle following him. The driver of the vehicle then hit the shooter with the vehicle then got out and was shot in the leg.

“Walsh says the driver of the car was treated and released. The alleged shooter remains in the hospital. Police declined to release the names of the men.”

Sgt. Deahn Amend says the case is under investigation and that no one has been charged at this point.

“At this time we have several people that we will be interviewing and continuing to look at.”

Sgt. Amend encourages anyone with information to contact the Casper Police Department.

“If anybody has information or witnessed anything in reference to the altercation at the 1100 block of Boxelder, will they please call the Casper Police Department at, 235 8278. They can speak with Detective Dolberg or Detective Mike Ogden.”

The case remains under investigation.
