The Board of Directors of the Nicolaysen Art Museum (the NIC) today announces that its Executive Director, Connie Gibbons, will take up a position beginning in June with the Mulvane Art Museum at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Gibbons made the decision to leave the NIC to be closer to her family, and the Board has commenced a search to find a new executive director.

Gibbons was hired in January 2011 and oversaw a number of positive changes in the NIC’s programs and operating processes.

Gibbons said,

“The Nicolaysen Art Museum is one of the most important cultural institutions in the region, It has been an honor to work with the Board of Directors, staff, the NIC’s great supporters and the community, and it has been exciting to see our programs blossom.”

Simon Marshall, chair of the Board of Directors said,

“Our focus now is on finding the right candidate to ensure the NIC continues to be the foremost art and creative learning resource in Wyoming. Our new executive director will assist with our new 25th Anniversary Sustainability Campaign. The goal of the campaign is ensuring the future of the NIC for the next 25 years.”
