A crash of a commercial vehicle on WYO 270 north of Hartville, WY resulted in a spill of hot oil into a dry creek bed.

The driver of the truck failed to negotiate a curve to the right and went off the west side of WY-270 at the top of the Hat Creek Breaks. The tanker was carrying emulsion for a highway project near Mule Creek Junction.

When the vehicle rolled the tanker trailer split open and the product ran into a dry wash. There is no road blockage due to the crash and efforts to contain the spill and get the rest of the product off loaded are underway. The driver was taken to the hospital in Lusk. Clean up efforts are being coordinated by the WY Dept of Transportation.
