The Casper College District Board is seeking to fill a board seat following the resignation of four-term Trustee Charles Chapin.

Chapin submitted his resignation at the March 20 board meeting to be effective March 30th, citing his desire to avoid a conflict of interest due to his new position with the law firm of Williams, Porter, Day and Neville, which provides legal services to Casper College. “It has been an honor and privilege to represent the citizens of Natrona County as a member of the board. I will miss the relationships, and the people who have and do make the college the shining star that it is,” wrote Chapin in his letter of resignation.

Chapin had served on the board since 1996. He served as chair from 2000 through 2002. He also served on the Casper College Foundation Board and was previously a member of the Central Wyoming Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES).

Board chair Kathleen Dolan said the board anticipates selecting a new trustee from among those submitting letters of interest by April 29th. The new trustee will complete the remainder of Chapin’s term, which expires in December 2012. The appointee may stand for election to a new four-year term during the November 2012 general election.

Those interested in serving on the Casper College District Board should submit a letter of interest and a brief resume by April 29th to the Casper College District Board, 125 College Drive, Casper, WY 82601. Materials may also be emailed to Gale Lara, secretary to the Casper College District Board, at , faxed to 307-235-1461 or hand delivered to room 307 of the Casper College Gateway Building.
