There’s a new last day of school for Natrona County students.

After Tuesday’s snow day, officials with the Natrona County School District say the new last day of school for students is Friday, May 24. It was Thursday, May 23.

Shauna VanderLinden, who’s with the Natrona County School District, says the district is following state law.

“We’re required to have so many instructional days for the students per year, and that’s set by the state at 175 days, so we have to make up that day somewhere,” VanderLinden said. “It’s not technically extending their school year – they’re still technically going to school for the same number of days.”

The district also moved its staff professional development day to Tuesday, May 28.
