New Exhibitions Open Saturday at UW Art Museum
The University of Wyoming Art Museum will have three new exhibitions starting this Saturday, May 25th.
According to the University, the two exhibitions opening up this Saturday are titled, "David Simpson" and Michael Eastman: Urban Luminosity," feature works by contemporary artists along with "Masterworks from the Art Museum Collection" showcasing works from the permanent collection.
The University goes onto say "David Simpson" is a solo exhibition where his California Bay Area native artwork will be on display. The UW release goes onto say Simpson uses interference paints, which contain micro-particles coated with titanium oxide or mica. Simpson's color paintings will change color so it will change the viewer's perspective of it as well. Nicole Crawford, Curator of Collections says "Simpson's artwork will mystify viewers and its quite beautiful."
The University states that the "Michael Eastman: Urban Luminosity" will feature big photographs of urban landscapes that explore man-made environments. The UW release says Eastman's images are made at night and the interior and exterior display contemporary and modern architecture of big cities, including China, Shanghai, New York City, Japan, and Osaka. Crawford says "Eastman's art is something people can relate too."
According to the University, "Masterworks from the Art Museum Collection" displays a very historical art collection. The release says they'll have work from Albert Bierstadt, Salvador Dali, Alexander Calder, and much more as all their art work emphasizes American and European art movements.
Crawford says "if you can't make it Saturday the Art Museum is always open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is always free."
