Ground was ceremoniously broken Tuesday morning on a new 50,000 square foot building for the Community Health Center of Central Wyoming. The non-profit health care organization hopes to open the door on an expanded operation by next summer.  Health Center CEO, Dan Reiner says the expansion will include extended hours.

"We're gonna be looking at moving toward, hopefully over the next 12 months, a seven day walk-in clinic program that will provide affordable care and insurance based services for the community. And hopefully offer an alternative,  as opposed to going to the ER, they'll be able to come to our center."

Along with the new building, Reiner says they'll introduce obstetric and pediatric specialists.

"Up to this time we've had primarily family physicians providing obstetrics.  With the higher level of risk of some of our patients, we feel we need to integrate into our practice obstetrics as well as pediatrics."

The new building will be located on the north side of Blackmore Road just east of Donegal.
