Casper City Council has signed off on plans for a new, privately owned hospital on the city's east side.

Councilors formally established the subdivision plan after a third unanimous vote Tuesday night, September 17th.

The hospital’s ownership group is still keeping quiet about specific details of the facility, that will be located at the corner of Park Ridge Drive and Venture Way, but city officials say the site will include a 16-bed, 52,000 square foot medical center, several offices and a restaurant.

Casper Mayor Kenyne Schlager says it has been a hot topic with some residents as well as with the Wyoming Medical Center, however...

"The council does not want to restrict anybody's ability to have free enterprise or operate a business and so if a private coffee company wants to come to town and open, and Starbucks wants to open, we're not going to tell them no. It's truly free enterprise and that's not a position that council wants to govern."

The Kansas based healthcare facility management firm Nueterra, will operate the facility.

They have not yet set a deadline, as to when construction will begin.
