New Bleachers Approved for Casper Speedway

New bleachers will be installed at the Casper Speedway in advance of the upcoming race season.

Casper City Council approved a $170,000 bid for the new bench-style seating during its regular session earlier this week.

Casper mayor Paul Meyer says the current wooden bleachers, which have been in place for decades, are a safety risk and must be replaced.

“I’ve gotten more splinters on the bleachers up at the raceway than I care to brag about,” Meyer said. “They are the aluminum benches that are safe, and there aren’t big enough orifices for children to fall through.”

City officials say the new bleachers should be installed by early May.
