Senator Barrasso co-sponsors a bill to address the need for more veterinarians in Wyoming's rural areas.

In an effort to encourage more large animal veterinarians to serve in rural areas, Senator John Barrasso is co-sponsoring the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program Enhancement Act.

Liz Lauck is the Outreach Coordinator with the Wyoming Stock Growers Association.

The bi-partisan bill would eliminate taxes on programs that encourage veterinarians to practice in under-served areas.

According to a statement given by Senator Barrasso,

“It is crucial that we have enough veterinarians to maintain the health of our livestock as well as protect food safety and public health. This bill will help encourage more veterinarians to stay and work in Wyoming.”
