The Natrona County School District applauded one of its best educators Monday night.

Former Natrona County High School language arts teacher Chris Dresang, who was recently named the school district’s teacher of the year for 2013, was honored by district trustees prior to a scheduled Monday board meeting.

Dresang, who will take over as the new principal at Fort Caspar Academy, says he appreciates the designation. He also says he’ll miss his former post at NC.

“I still hope to be part of the NC community, Dresang said. “But, it’s nice too, because now I’ll be moving onto something where I can watch kids grow up even longer.”

Dresang taught language arts at NC for five years. He also says he helped construct an articulation program with Casper College while at NC.

Dresang will take over as the new principal at Fort Caspar next month.

Trustees also approved a name change for the new North Casper Elementary School on Monday. The school will now be known as Lincoln Elementary School when it opens next year.

Superintendent Dr. Joel Dvorak says the new school should open by December 2014.
