The Associated Students of the University of Wyoming (ASUW) has named Natrona County High School senior Benjamin Doyle as their 2014 Honorary Cowboy award winner.

Each year the ASUW goes through a nomination process to recognize a student in the state of Wyoming who exemplifies a “Cowboy-Up” spirit and who possesses the finest characteristics while dealing with formidable life circumstances.

This year, Ben was nominated by NCHS senior Jena Milliken and recommended by teacher Mrs. Julie Patterson, who felt as though Ben's actions surrounding his circumstances made him very deserving of the award. The selection committee was very impressed by Ben's story, and was inspired by his actions that are helping him to triumph through the difficult situation of battling brain cancer.

As part of this award, a weekend of festivities will be scheduled for Ben, his family, and Jena this fall. The weekend will include a UW campus visit, dinner, a UW football game, and a presentation of the award during the game.

Congratulations "Honorary Cowboy Ben" on this special honor!
